This project consisted on creating a 10”W x 7”H x 4”D back-to-school gift bag containing 6 different small gifts to be used for the semester for first, second, or third grade student. I opted for items that will be used for writing as an homage of the writers of the world, Who beautify the world with their words. The items were: A 8.5"x5.5" notepad, A-2 envelopes, small eraser, a blue marker, a "pencil" shape pencil box, hand sanitizer and a small 4"x6" pouch to hold personal "self care" items.
The theme was based on classic literature, few books were recommended for inspiration. Ultimately, I chose "The wind in the willows" because of the different personalities of each character in the book.
The design process was very long and needless to say I went from different color and font choices until I found the "happy medium" between the modern look while preserving the characteristics of the classic literature illustration style. The solution was to brighten up the colors and creating modern graphic elements along side the hand drawn figures of the characters of the book.
The technical aspects of the process of this project were very interesting and allowed me to work with customizing die lines, and work around intricate cutting. As well as, revising the placement of the graphics elements int he layout.
